The room
Monthly luncheons and the topical workshop put you in the same room as the operators, service-company experts, and academics setting the Kingdom's petrophysics direction.
Membership
Membership is open year-round to anyone working in, studying, or supporting the science of formation evaluation. Application takes a couple of minutes — and the rest of the year is yours to use it.
Why join
Beyond the obvious community, three concrete things every member uses through the year.
Monthly luncheons and the topical workshop put you in the same room as the operators, service-company experts, and academics setting the Kingdom's petrophysics direction.
The Chapter's slides library — every technical meeting and workshop deck, searchable, archived since 2014. Members get permanent access; non-members get headlines.
A Chapter membership integrates you with the global SPWLA — distinguished-lecturer talks, the international symposium, and a worldwide referral network of formation evaluators.
Categories
Pick the category that fits where you are now — you can move between them as your career evolves.
For undergraduates, master's, and PhD students enrolled at an accredited institution.
For working petrophysicists, log analysts, and reservoir engineers in industry or academia.
How it works
Tell us who you are and which category you're applying for. Takes about two minutes; works from any device.
We confirm your affiliation and send a payment link. Annual dues; corporate batches available for organisations onboarding multiple staff.
Your member ID arrives by email, you're added to the events list, and the slides library opens immediately.
FAQ
No. The Chapter welcomes members from anywhere in the region (and beyond) whose work or studies relate to petrophysics in the Kingdom's geological setting. We also actively partner with sister chapters in the Gulf and the wider Middle East.
Yes. The Saudi Arabia Chapter is one of the regional chapters of the international SPWLA. Most members hold both, but it isn't required — Chapter dues stand on their own, and the Chapter handles registration into the global programmes when you want to add them.
Annual cycle, two tiers (Student / Professional). Student dues are nominal; professional dues cover the year of technical events and slides-library access. Corporate bundles are available for organisations onboarding several staff at once — please contact the Membership Officer.
Yes. Corporate sponsorship supports the workshop programme, the student chapter, and outreach. Sponsors get speaking slots at workshops, logo placement, and the option to host a technical meeting at their site. Get in touch via the Contact page.
Members in good standing of another SPWLA chapter relocating to Saudi Arabia can transfer their membership — let us know via the contact form and we'll waive duplicate verification.
Young Professionals (YP) is open to early-career members (typically within seven years of graduation). YPs get dedicated technical sessions, mentoring matches with senior members, and lead-roles on workshop organising committees. Tick the YP box on your application form.
